About Solent University

Solent University is located in Southampton, right in the centre. The university is home to around 11,000 students and is conveniently located near the city centre and maritime hub of Southampton. Solent’s maritime courses are ranked amongst some of the best in the world so if this is something you’re thinking of studying, Southampton is the place to go.

Solent University is based right in the centre of Southampton, and is named after the stretch of water between Southampton and the Isle of Wight. The university is proudly industry focused, and works closely with local businesses, which makes it perfect for those hoping for some hands-on education.

Solent was the beneficiary of a £100m investment into the campus in 2020. Creative education makes up a big part of the courses on offer at Solent, from TV to film production. The university works closely with Solent Creatives, a creative agency that take paid briefs from external companies.

In Southampton, the costs of eating out and nights out tend to be a little lower than other cities in the UK so this is something to consider as it makes it the perfect place to enjoy a bit of extra money.
